Guidance from the British Acupuncture Council make it clear that wearing a face mask in the context of a 'close contact service' is now a legal requirement. I am also required to wear a mask in the communal areas of the clinic and during the treatment. This follows changes to government guidance due to the current wave of the Omicron variant of SARS-CoV-2. You can check out the guidance here
